WE WOULD LIKE TO REMIND EVERYONE TO BRING ANY “SELF MOMENTOS” (FOR EXAMPLE, A QUILT; A TEA CUP; A LAND RECORD; A WATCH FOB; ETC.) YOU HAVE FOR “SHOW AND TELL.”  BRING PHOTOGRAPHS AND WE WILL SCAN THEM (NO ONE WILL TOUCH YOUR ORIGINALS BUT YOU) SO WE CAN SHARE THE PHOTOGRAPHS BY EMAIL.

WESTWARD HO TO THE ARCHIVES AND LUNCH-

The day will be spent researching at the Midwest Genealogy Center in Independence, Missouri (5-10 minute drive).  Lunch on your own.  The Genealogy Center closes at 6:00p.m.

 

FRIDAY DINNER-Dinner on your own.

 

SATURDAY, APRIL 17^TH

 

SATURDAY BREAKFAST-FREE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST, WITH HOTEL ROOM, IN THE HOTEL LOBBY FROM 6-10 AM OR COFFEE & DOUGHNUTS AT GENEALOGY CENTER AT 9AM.

 

REGISTRATION, WELCOME AND INTRODUCTIONS-  MEET AT 9:00 AM AT THE MIDWEST GENEALOGY CENTER.  OUR MORNING AND AFTERNOON SPEAKER WILL BE BOB SELF.  HIS MORNING TOPIC WILL BE THE ETYMOLOGY OF THE SELF NAME.  HIS AFTERNOON TOPIC WILL DISCUSS HIS RESEARCH FINDINGS TO OLD ROBERT SELFE AND THE ST. GILES OF CRIPPLEGATE PARISH IN LONDON, ENGLAND.

 

SATURDAY LUNCH- 12:00 TO 1:30 PM (PLACE TO BE ANNOUNCED-POSSIBLY A BOX LUNCH AT THE CENTER).

 

PHOTO SHOOT AT START OF AFTERNOON SESSION AND DOOR PRIZES.

PRIOR TO THE REUNION AND FOLLOWING THE REUNION:  THURSDAY, APRIL 16^th; SUNDAY, APRIL 19^TH; AND MONDAY, APRIL 20TH

 

Linda Self, a Self resident of Kansas City, would be happy to assist you in “Seeing the Sights!” I hope to be your tour guide as you experience the various sights in Independence and downtown Kansas City, Missouri.  I will try to carpool groups that want to see the same sight and assist others with directions and information (directions, cost, amount of time needed to see the sight, etc.) on the other sights.  Please surf the web regarding Independence and Kansas City, as there are coupons (especially for seniors), trip packages, etc., that can lower the cost of your entertainment and help you make the most of your time here.  And we do want you to have a greaaaaaaaaaat time at the National 2009 Self Family Gathering!
