April 24, 2004 – The Gathering 10:30 AM - Program at the Yeocomico Church (near Hague, VA.), adjacent to the Robert Selfe patent of 300 acres, was again proudly presented by John Morrow of the Yeocomico Church . This Church and its history was a must as the Yeocomico Church is the second longest continual use Church in North America. Ask anyone who visited this Church – it was awesome. 11:15 AM - Dedication of the Robert Selfe Memorial. This event took place at the Yeocomico Church Cemetery, to the east (right) side of the building and fence, in the Cemetery plot of the early unknown burials, Section 28A. Here descendants of the early Self family in America dedicated a bronze plaque mounted upon a granite stone that commemorates Robert Selfe, his wives, and his known children, the first known Selfs in America. See details of the monument in Volume 14 Issue #3, and the plat map of the area presented in Volume 1 of the Newsletter. As of April 15, 2004, over 80 Self – Selph descendants had donated to this project. The names of contributors are posted on the Self family website and in the Self Family Newsletter in the near future. See also the Robert Selfe Memorial page on this site.
