Civil War stories about ancestors that have been passed down to you from
generation to generation. Our first story soon to be submitted
and available on this page is by our Bob Self from California. Now,
what you'll see and read here on the web site will be merely a teaser to the full story that will be available in an upcoming issue of The Self Family Newsletter. To see YOUR ancestor's story printed in an upcoming newsletter, please submit them to Doris Howard by email at the email address listed below. When submitting your ancestor's Civil War story please be sure to provide a complete story from the beginning of the war till the end of the war. Your story doesn't only have to be about the ancestor that fought in the Civil War, it can be any story about their family that was left behind, or those that may have been too young or old to fight, or any other hardship endured during that awful time in our history. Remember, you can submit any story you feel will show how this Civil War time tragedy affected our ancestors and their families. Photos and old letters of life and events, etc. always help tell a story and add interest, so if you have some photos or letters that help tell your story be sure to scan them as a JPEG or TIFF image and submit them along with your story.
