#113781 I am researching the TAYLOR descendants out of Perry Co, IN. Amos Self son of Irvin/Irwin was suppose to have married Lydia Agness Waller and I am trying to learn more on her family, ancestors, siblings, and descendants. Would also like just the parents Family group sheet information for him, so I can get information on his parents and siblings (and their Spouses) ONLY. Family history gives her name as Waller, Lydia Agness b ca 1870 md. 12-May-1892 (maybe Perry Co, IN). Amos Stephen Self b1869 (8 m in 1870 Perry Co, IN), and she being the daughter of William Redmund Waller and Liza Ann Hayes 1837-1897 buried Perry Co, IN. (William Redmund Waller, is a descendant of my Taylor family out of Perry Co, IN).
I located some information on them from the WPA birth records of Orange Co, IN.

# 113771 My earliest Self is Martha C. (Mattie) Self, that married my Great-grandfather (paternal) James Henry (Tink) Garner. She was born Sep 5, 1853 in Ga., probably Cherokee County. Her father was Thomas Self, b. 1816 in NC. He took Mattie's mother-in-law, Nancy Garner, as his 2nd wife after her husband, William P. Garner (my great-great grandfather) died at age 35, and I assume Thomas Self's wife, Mattie's mother, died (no name given for her). I also have close friends here in Georgia that are Selfs, though I am still getting info together from them to trace our relationship if any. William Self is the grandfather of their line, no d.o.b. known yet.
#113772 I have Eliza Jane Hood m Wm. Self. However it seems several researchers have different husband for her. Does anyone have proof of who the husband is? "Vina" "Dink" Eliza Lavina James m Wm. Zachariah Self per Self Family Newsletter Vol. 3 p 32-3. Does anyone have proof of this? Also conflicting husband by several researchers. Matilda Dalton supposedly md. Wm. Self. She is supposedly the sister of the Dalton brothers. No proof on this either and again conflicting information from researchers. I am interested in any and all information concerning these three women as there is a high probability they are of my line.
#113773 We have Isaac Self b. l807 GA and Sarah Elizabeth Jeter b. 18l5 pos. GA., married ca. l830 most likely GA. Have located them in their trek West in Alabama l837, Mississippi l840 and Arkansas. Census shows a family of Jeters living in Mississippi l840. Recently Lunenburg Co. VA records show connection between Wm Jeter and Edward Self. We have Wm. Jeter married to a Margaret Vaughn and owning large amounts of land. Edward Self purchased land from Wm. Jeter - l68 acres I believe. After Edward sold his land, no records can be found for him. However, it appears that Wm. Jeter migrated to South Carolina. Do we have any researchers that have information on Edward or his descendants, John Self of Lunenburg Co. or Wm Jeter and his descendants.
# 113774 Searching for information on Parrish Self, s/o Unknown, b. bef. 1750, NC, d. 1818, NC m. Mary Thompson d/o William Thompson and Hannah Bell. Parrish is my 4/5 great grandfather - would like to know more about his family and life. I had someone write me a while ago and said something to the effect that everyone knew of Parrish Self, but lost all info when computer went belly-up, and never did find out about Parrish.
# 113775 I am seeking photos or biographical information for Henry Sheridan Self, b. 1864 Irondale, MO., son of Thomas B. and Mary Burton Self, also Irondale, MO. Henry is my ggrandfather and he died in 1904. I know nothing about him and would like to find something.
# 113761 Does anyone out there have Self ancestors from Michigan? I am seeking information on my g grandfather Ozzie Harvey Self b. late 1800's. I know very little about him except his mother's name was Mary and she was the former widow of a man named Rundell before marrying his father (She had a son from this previous marriage). Ozzie was married to Anna Henrietta Maria Preston. All of their children were born in Battle Creek, Michigan. I have a ton of info on the descendants and would gladly share what I know. Also have a few photos of Ozzie and his children, and one small photo of his mother either with his father or Mr. Rundell (not sure which).
#113762 Seeking information on Theodoseia Evelyn Self (my ggrandmother) who reported came from Ga. (whereabouts?) about the time of the Civil War (possibly toward the end or after) with her father (who was a teacher? unknown name) and a sister (maybe Molly? Polly) and two twin brothers (Lem and Lij...?Elijah). They traveled by wagon to Louisiana (probably Natchitoches/Montgomery area). She married John Miller Young 12-29-1882.
#113763 I am working on a grave re-identification project at Sewell Cemetery, Elmore Co. AL. One section has grave makers identifying John C. Self, March 28, 1883-May 1, 1969 and Linda Mae Self, May 5, 1948-May 6, 1948. There are several other marked but unidentified graves adjacent to these. Someone has been caring for them and placing flowers. Have you any ideas on finding out who?
#113764 I am interested in getting in contact with anyone related to Christina Self (nee Harpley) b. circa 1826 in Great Yarmouth. She may have been a twin. If anyone has information on her I can trade with a family tree dating back to 1740. Only bits I can add are that she may have also been known as Christian or Christiana after her mother, who came from Inverness, Scotland. Her twin may have been Rosina born the same year. She was one of 12 children though her mother was the second wife of George Harpley (Her mother had 7 children). Her husband was a seaman. Her son was called George and was born circa 1849, silk weaver. I have also found her in 1881 and 1891 census. She continued to work as a silk weaver. In these two census' she lived with her sisters Mary and Julia.
#113765 I am seeking the related family of Sarah SELF. She was born ca 1770 NC. Married Jan 1783 in Chatham Co NC to William FLANAGAN, 1757-1845. Sarah SELF died in Gilmer(?) Co GA 26 Jun 1848 at the residence of her daughter Wina "Winnie" BEARDEN.
#113791 Would really like some help on locating any information concerning James Franklin Self who married Amanda Goodman: he was born around Nov 1877 married Dec. 1901 and died April 1957 lived in and around Tifton Co. Ga. I only have listed as his father J. William Self (Selph) and his mother as Elizabeth Raffield no dates on either one or where they may be from, not even sure of spelling of last name at this point! Please if anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

#113793 I am seeking info on Tabitha Narcissus Self, born 1850 or 51 in AR. I have been given two sets of parents from two sources for Tabitha. I haven't a clue which or if either is correct: Eurby Self and Polly Daniels. / Nathanel Self and Sarah Sarton. Tabitha married Peter Peterson Barnard in 1871 in Newton Co AR. They had nine children: James Eurby, Sarah Jane, Reuben Esquire, Samuel H, Mary Susan, Rachel Matilda, Nancy Isabella, Rufes Hedpath, Francis Abigelle. Sarah Jane Barnard married Jefferson F. Callahan.
#113794 Does anyone have a Susan Self born ca. 1800 NC she died in Perry Co. TN. in 1833. I am sure Susan married Henry Haws Story in Perry Co. NC. Susan and Henry Haws Story had Melvin Story born 1-4-1826 Madison CO. TN. he married. Martha Plant, Mahala Story 1829 born TN. Married Joseph Reed in 1847, Mary Emily 1831 born Tn. married James T. Arthur, and Mary Elizabeth born May 6, 1833 in TN married Issac Sharp. Melvin Story came to Pope Co. Arkansas, he married after Susan died, a Nancy Taylor in 1833 Madison Co. TN. #113802 I am looking for information on my fathers dad Robert Lee Self. Little is know about him. My dads mothers name was Alice Stephenson (born July 18,1905) date married & where is unknown. My father Sidney was born 1-8-26 in Americus, KS & his mother Alice lived in Emporia, KS. Robert & Alice had five sons & one daughter (Robert, Albert Lee, Orville Clarence, Sidney Lee, Howard & Rosetta). Robert & Alice divorce when my father was young. I believe that Robert remarried but not sure if he had any other children. Robert passed away in the 50's somewhere between 1955 & 1958. Any information that you may have would be very appreciated.
#113803 I am looking for information on Rebecca Self. She was born in 1795 in South Carolina. She died before June 1, 1862, probably in Attala County, MS. She married Jacob Crow August 17, 1813 in Jackson County, GA. Their children: William Jackson b. 1812, Spencer Bobo b. bef. 1819, David W. b. abt. 1820, Elizabeth "Betsy" b.abt. 1821, Riley G. b. Dec 1823, Rebecca b. 1825, Jacob Marion b. 1830, Wiley P. b. abt. 1832, Sarah Adaline b. abt. 1835
#113804 I've recently found information that leads me to believe my grandfather, Hiram Alan Self b. 1861 KY, possibly came to Paris, Texas before moving to Oklahoma. I found the obituary of his niece, Laila Gwinn Barlow, on the USGenWeb site for Caddo, OK. I wish I had known about her--she died Jan. of this year at the age of 106. Anyway, they listed her parents Benjamin F. Irwin and Sarah Matilda (Self) Irwin. It said that Laila was born in Paris, TX in 1893 and later moved with her family to Caddo Co. and lived outside of Binger. I know that Hiram and Bertha Self were living in or near Binger in 1910 since their child, Ida Mae (my mother) was born there.
In the book The History of Cumberland Co. KY, it says that Sarah (Sally) and her husband Benjamin Franklin Irwin moved to Oklahoma. I had lost them at that point. The book also says that several of the boys went to Oklahoma. I know that Hiram, William and Berry did. I'm not sure about their brother James. I guess my question is whether anyone has any information on the Self line during the 1890s being in Lamar Co., TX. I wonder they all came to Paris first, then OK. Could James have come with them and remained in Paris? Any information would be helpful and appreciated.
# 113821 I am trying to find who the parents were, or siblings, of Clinton Smith Self (my great grandfather). Clinton (b. 1864 - d. 1898) came from Selfville in Blount County, Alabama. He married Eller " Nora" Uladia McCloud (1867-1929). They lived on a homestead farm on Yellow Leak Creek in Shelby County, AL. That had belonged to her father. They had 6 children: George "Joseph" Self (1889-1958), my grandfather; Green "Oliver" Self (1890- 1988); Eller Linda Self (b. ca. 1892); Marcus Marion Self (b. 1894); Hutson Self (1898- 1983). The father, Clinton Self, had died at the age of 34. Their mother, Nora, did not like the Self relatives. She sold her land and took five of the children to Texas, with Oliver staying in Alabama. In Texas, Eller married Poe ____ and settled inb San Antonio. Marcus married Jesse __ and settled in Houston; Hutson settled in Post, and later Bangs, TX. Nora decided to return to Alabama and took Joseph and Jesse with her. Jesse took sick and died and was buried along the way. Nora and Joseph bought land across from Oliver in Simmsville, AL. from the Simms in Shelby County. George "Joseph" Self and Susie Nancy Garner (1895 - 1969) got married in Jefferson County, AL., in 1911, but lived in Simmsville. He was the postmaster, owned the country grocery store, a sawmill mill, and a Model T Ford. They lost most everything during the depression. Later, they lived in Birmingham. They had 10 children: George "Robert" Self; Pearl Lee Self; Murtelle Estille Self; Fred Franklin Self; Edward Self; Lois Catherine Self; Earl Jackson Self; Betty Joe Self; and Janice Self, who died right after birth.
#113822 Searching for information on Stephen Self, b. 1815, d. after 1850, m. Eliza Lewis. Children: Samuel, Elizabeth, Fleet, Sarah, Stephen, and Levi. Stephen and Fleet on 1870 Census for Richmond Co., VA. Daughter Sarah living in Washington, DC by 1894 as widow of John F. Allison. No information on J. F. Allison. Cannot find Stephen and Eliza after 1850 Census for Westmoreland Co., VA. Who are his parents?
#113823 Ezekial Self, born 1780-1785, VA., NC, or SC., was living in Chester Co. SC., 1803-1805 where he left his name (Vol. 3 issue #2) quite noticeably. In a court document of 1806, seeking costs, it was noted that Ezekial had "gone to Georgia". Also in 1806, Ezekials proven brothers, John and Edward Self remove to Hardin County, KY., less Ezekial, of course. Ezekial returns to the area and enlists in the army from York County, SC. From 1814-1819, we can find Ezekial in Fort Osage (Jackson Co. MO.) in the military. Upon discharge he receives a bounty in Prairie Co. Arkansas, and then disappears until 1834, when according to his land grant, he signs for his property. So where is Ezekial all these other years?

#113841 William Moore Self, b. May 22, 1833, in Jefferson County, Alabama m. March 6, 1857, in St. Clair County, Alabama d. August 7.1885 in St. Clair County Alabama, to Casanda Harriet Crump b. William Moore Self is the thirteenth child of Francis 1785 and Lydia 1790. I am interested in: 1. How William obtained his middle name. Who would have been the Moore that he was named? Is the Moore family related to the Selfs? William Moore Self had eleven children: Mollie, Oalera (Lee) Self, Fannie Self who married a Mayer, Fannie Self 1857, Mary Self 1858, Parlee J. #113851 Ref: Volume 11, Issue 2, page 30. Levi J., Sally D. (S.D.), and Sarah are all younger sisters and brother to my husbands grandfather, Gilbert Selathan Self. I have a picture of Martha Woodward Self (their mother); Levi J. and Maryland with their two daughters; Sarah Davis and son Dennis D. This picture was probably taken in Ozark, AR. after Levi died Feb. 22, 1911, but before 1916. Martha J. and Sally D. were married on the same day, bu the same minister, and their marriage licenses are next to each other. Levi Self (sr.) was married three times, his third wife was Mary, whose first husband was Lewis Boen, so possibly the C.C. Boen who married Rachael Self may be distant kin.
#113852 My Self lineage is mainly in Westmoreland County, VA., as my father and grandfather were born in Haynesville. My great grandfather, Andrew Moses Self, born August 27, 1835, in Richmond county where he lived most of his life, but he died at Woodbine, Westmoreland County, August 26, 1895, at age 59, and was a private in Company K - 9th Cavalry. I am at a total loss as to whether Andrew Moses Self even had brothers or sisters. However, I have yet to see him in the 1850 census.
#113853 My Self line includes my grandparents - Samuel Edward (Edard) Self and wife Nancy Pearlee Guthrie, and is traced on back to a John Self, born about 1752 in Amelia County, VA., wifes name unknown, and his father name Unknown Self.

Do not have her birthdate. ..Married 12-1882 to John Miller Young, had 7 children; died 2-1896 in Colfax, La.

She lived with her husband and children in Westmoreland County, VA (around Hague). I would like to know her mother's name and the names of her siblings if she had any.
#1141951 On a recent visit to the National Archives, and on a fluke, I had taken with me the names of my great grandfather, Stephen K. Self, and his brothers Fleet William and Levi Henry because their ages would have put them in the civil war… Thank goodness for the unusual name of Fleet William Self for there they were; Stephen, Fleet, and Levi - all in the same regiment and all enlisting at the same time… As the chronology I have enclosed indicates {see pages 115 & 116 this issue} these three brothers were children of my great great grandfather, Stephen Fleet Self. Stephen was married twice, the first marriage to Elizabeth Lewis who died sometime before 1853 and a second marriage to Mary Anne Wilkins in 1853. In total they had 12 children. I would love to be able to connect to some of these descendants. My great grandfather, Stephen K. Self, married Olivia Jane Purcell in 1867 and had nine children.
#1141052 I am descended from Nancy Self, my great-grandmother, who was married to Harris Taylor.

#1141061 My grandfather is John Nelson Self, born October 23, 1881, in Pueblo, CO., died Sept. 1964 in Pueblo, CO. His wife was Minnie Lee Whitehead Self, born in Missouri May 04, 1883, and died March 1982 in Pueblo, CO. John is listed in the Colorado census of 1900 as 18 years old. In the 1920 census he is listed as John W. Self and 36 years old. My uncle assures me his middle name was Nelson. Also in the census they have Minnie listed as Lu M. Lee. John Nelson Self's father was born in Georgia, but a name is not available at this time. I have ordered applications from Social Security hoping there will be some help there. John had two brothers, Albert and Alex, that we know of. My uncle did not remember any sisters. The family moved to California in 1925 to be closer to Lynn while he attended Stanford University. Robert played football on the San Mateo high school football team. He got so upset one day after someone stole his football shoes, that he packed up and moved back to Colorado by himself. He worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in Colorado, and later joined the Army-Air Corps. I hope this will provide a missing link for someone and also help us with our lineage.
# 122501 Waiting to hear from you, cousin of Samuel B. Self (m) Martha Bean; Ruben Self (m) Ethel Brogdon; Della Self (m) Sam Dixson; Sam Self (m) ___ ___; Lalah Self (m) Henry ___; Millie Self (m) ___ ___; James Henry Self (m) Lily Brogdon.
# 122502 Really what I think I want is info on my g-grandmothers family. I know nothing about her except her name and time of birth and death. I do not know where she lived or who her mother and father an brother and sisters where. Could you help me with this? Her name was Smithey Lucetta Self. She was born in Missouri in 1850 and died in 1934 and buried at Arlington Cemetery in Tarrant County, Tx. She married Jose Ylario (Eli) Arriola on Jan 26, 1865 in Johnson County, Tx. After he died she remarried and married a Billie Jones. That is all the info. I have on her.
# 122503 On page 97 of Vol. XI, Issue 4 under the heading DEATHS from SSDI the first entry listed is Dale Self as the son of Orvis and Grace. As the son of the Dale Self listed I can attest to the fact that this information is incorrect. Pleasant Dale Self of Levelland, Tx., date of death 27 August 1989, was in fact the son of Henry Anderson Self, whose father was David Simpson Self, the son of Nathan Self, son of Spencer (John) Self of 1790 N.C. Census. Coincidentally my Grandfather Henry Anderson Self was the Brother of the P.D. Self whose biography you ran in Vol. XII, Issue 1. The initials P.D. were for Pleasant Dewberry and my father was to have been named after him except for the pleading of his oldest sister Agnes who convinced my grandfather to name him Pleasant Dale instead. When I was about 10 or 11 yrs old my father took me out to visit Uncle Dewberry on his ranch near Marble Falls Tx. He was quite old at that time and I am grateful that I had the opportunity to meet him. Uncle Dewberry had another brother "Nathan Benjamin" who was also interviewed by the Federal Writers Project and it is an interesting addendum to the one which you published. I have a copy which I will try to find and send to you. Thank you and all your contributors for the fine work that you do on the Self Family Newsletter, it is truly a exceptional publication.
# 122504 I am trying to locate a marriage license for John D. Self and Leah Clark or Watson. (Some folks have her listed as CLARK because in the 1880 Douglas County, GA. census there is a Nancy Clark listed as MIL. Mona Herrin had a Bible and her name is listed as WATSON.) They would have been married in 1856 or 1857. John's first wife, Louisa Grimley died in 1856 in GA. and he married Leah within a few months. In 1850 john and Louisa lived in Wilkes County, GA., In 1860 John and Leah lived in Campbell County, GA. I would also like to know if anyone has a photo of John and Leah. John was a minister. Does anyone have any of his sermons? Any Church records?
#122491 Somewhere I read that A.A. Self and his wife sold their farm to the U.S. Government and that the present capital and white house was built on the property. Can that be true? I would like to have a copy of the transaction.
# 122492 My Self line is connected to my grandmother's HAM line in North Carolina. Her grandfather was Zachariah Ham b. 1800 in NC who had married Nancy Beasley 06 Jan. 1829 in Cumberland County, NC. In doing research I discovered that Nancy was the daughter of one Carey Beasley and Mary SELF. Carey died ca. 1818-1819 and his three children; John M. Beasley, Nancy Beasley, and Sally Beasley were appointed a guardian who was Henry Morning. Mary married one George DUDLEY about 1822 in Chatham County, NC. I have legal papers to this effect. I have been able to trace the Beasley family back but can find nothing regarding Mary SELF. I have spent hours pouring over data in the archives in Raleigh, NC., but had not located this material while there. I have just not been able to get down there for further research.
# 122493 I am the descendant of Emma Self Gildon daughter of Tilman Self son of William Self and Ada Burleson. I have been told that he was son of John Self son of Presley Self. This is where I become confused and have not been able to make the connection of who John married and which Presley it was. I did find Presley and Gunter and Tunnell Perry in Bledsoe Co. TN Petitions but that was all. Do I connect with anyone out there? Also I have a picture of the first Thomas Thorn's mason apron from this line if anyone is interested. It came with him to us in 1700's. I actually have the apron. # 122494 Am looking for Roy Oscar Self. Eloise Self Caudill is my grandmother; Roy was her dad. This is what we have so far, but Roy's line drops off after his marriage to Sarah Alice Johnson. Any help locating his line would be greatly appreciated! 1. Eloise Self CAUDILL. (Here is where we lose Roy); 3 Sarah Alice JOHNSTON. Born on 18 Dec 1885. Sarah Alice died in Brushy Pond, (Breman) Alabama on 8 Jun 1955, she was 69. Buried in Rhyans Creek Baptist Church.
# 123761 Seeking information on the origins of Annie Self, born about 1774, possibly in NC. About 1795, married Noah Langley, b. abt. 1773, NC. This couple lived and raised a family on the Cherokee lands of Georgia in the vicinity of the Chestatee river, in what is now the NE part of Forsyth County. Annie apparently died about 1818 or 1819. Noah Langley married again to Sarah Rains on Jan. 5, 1820. This latter marriage produced several more children.

# 123763 My earliest known Self ancestor is Levi Self born in NC ca. 1782 and died in Newton Co. AR. 28 Oct. 1862. Levi married first to Sarah Felton ca. 1799 and is found on the 1800 Pendleton Co. SC. Census. His name appears as Security on the marriage Bond of Henry Self and Betsey Allen 26 March 1807 in Roane Co. TN. In 1814 Levi was living in Bledsoe Co. (formed from Roane in 1807) and in Oct. 1814 he was drafted to serve in the War of 1812. He served as a private in the East Tennessee Militia in Captain Miles Vernan's Company. He states that he was marched to Mobile, Al. where he was confined in the hospital for several weeks and in April of 1815 he returned to Bledsoe Co. TN. His name appears on a petition in 1815 in Bledsoe Co. Levi moved to White Co. IL. and he is found there on the 1820 census. His first wife died in 1821 and Levi married Elizabeth Thrash (a widow) 21 July 1824. In 1826 he is living in Clay Co. Illinois and it is there that my gt gt grandmother Mahala Celia Self and her twin brother Levi are born. In 1830 Levi appears on the Shelby Co IL. Census, and by 1840 he has moved to Arkansas. In 1850 Levi is in Newton Co AR. and he filed a claim to obtain Bounty Land based on his military service in the War of 1812. Sometime between 1850 and 1858 his wife Elizabeth died and he married Sarah Hodge Boen Douthit on 1 December 1858. Levi died 28 Oct. 1862 in Newton Co. His widow applied for and received a pension in 1880.
I'm searching for info on the parents and siblings of this Levi Self (my ggggrandfather) born ca 1782 in NC died 28 October 1862 in Newton Co., AR. Speculation is that his father was Spencer John Self and that he had brothers, Eli, Nathan, Hezekiah and Spencer. I have tracked Levi and his supposed brothers and their descendants through Tennessee, Alabama, Illinois, Mississippi and Arkansas but have been unable to prove their relationship to each other or to Spencer John Self. Looking for clues, evidence and proof of that relationship.
# 123771 I can't believe it's been over two months since the Gathering in Virginia. It was such a great get together and I appreciate all of the information I gathered from the back newsletters. When I've had a chance I have sorted through that info., and I think my family tracks back to James Self. He's the one that was married to Margett [Peggy]. Not only did he name his kids in his Will, but a majority of them are also listed in the early birth records. One of James' sons was John Self [b. 11-20-1755] and he and his wife Elizabeth deeded 100 acres to Thomas Self [who I believe was their son] that 100 acres tracks through my great grandfather. I've got quite a bit of information from tax records, deeds, wills, census records. There are a few loose ends I am trying to tie up but I think I have a pretty strong case for tracking back to James. Anyway, I'd like to see if anyone in our Self group is connected to James. I'd like to see what they know and how they connect. Any help would be appreciated
# 1241101 - I didn't know until recently that my gr.great grandmother was Julia Self, who married Cornelius Hoagland. I was pleased to learn from a Self family member about the Newsletter. And I was very pleased to find the names of Julia's parents, James & Matilda Scroggins Self, through this wonderful internet site. I do have a query. Perhaps someone has information about my gr.grandpa, James R. Bass, who married Martha Hoagland, daughter of Julia Self and Cornelius Hoagland. I've hit a brick wall in finding his parent's names. He was born in KY in 1834, but I don't know the County so I'm having problems in my search. He married Martha in Morgan Co. IL in 1859, but names of his parents are not on the marriage certificate copy that I received.
# 1241102 - I have read each query that has come through the Self Family and so far have not made any connections to my Andrew Jackson Self/Selph out of Dooly and Turner Counties of Georgia, born June 10, 1858-died January 12, 1929, in Turner County Georgia and is buried at Clemens Chapel near Ashburn, Georgia in Turner County, Ga. My research begins with him in Dooly County but so far have not found where he and his family came from. On the census he answered, born in Georgia but have not been able to find where in Georgia. He had brothers, David Nottingham, Frank, Sidney M., Joseph Marion Self. Andrew was the only one who changed the spelling of his name from Self to Selph. His brothers and their children continued on with the Self. If any one is of this line, please contact me.
# 1241103 - Can anyone tell me anything on the sons of William Henderson Self, born about 1848 and married Alsey, born about 1846. They were in the Jefferson Co., Al. census of 1880. I would like to know who these sons married and their children William M. Self b. 1872, went to Texas; Robert Jonathan Self b. 1875 d. abt.1935 in Jefferson Co. al.; John T. Self b. 1877 d. before 1935 in Jefferson Co, Al.; Jesse C. Self b. 1878 death date unknown, was in Birmingham, Al. in 1936. These sons are listed on the 1880 census with their parents. Anything that someone could help me with is greatly appreciated
# 1241104 - My grandmother was a Self. Her name is Smithey Lucetta Self Ariola Jones. Smithey could be Smythe. She was born in Missouri in 1850 and died in 1934 . She married Jose Ylario (Eli) Arriola on Jan. 26, 1865 in Johnson county, Tx. (Eli dropped one of the r's in the Arriola to Ariola.) After the death of Eli Ariola in 1881, she remarried a man named Billy Jones. She is buried in Arilington Cemetery in Tarrant County, Tx. Smith was my g-grandmother. She was red headed so was probably Irish or English.
# 1241091 - Looking for info about Robert Edward Self b. 11-6-1882 in Cedar Point Kansas. Married Malisa Miller 11-19-1904 and they had four children who had the last name of Self. Malisa died 4-16-1915 Between that time and 8-26-1916 (b of their first child Robert Anderson Trumbull) he became a Trumbull and m. Lillie Mae Latimer and had five other children with the last name of Trumbull. The question is when and how did Robert Edward Self become a Trumbull, He would have been a grown man 34 years of age. Robert Edward Self went to Mississippi with Arene Trumbull. (1900 Bay St. Lous Hancock County, Mississippi) After that he used the Trumbull name when he married Lillie Mae Latimer. Lillie helped to raise some of the children he had with Malisa Miller.
# 1241092 - I am trying to locate the burial place of Jane Self b. ca 1840 in AL who married Levi Mitchell on 1/24/1861 in Sevier Co Arkansas. I do not have a death date. Any help would be appreciated.
# 1241093 - I am looking for information about my great-greatgrandmother, Elivira Self. She was born in 1803 and died April 30, 1844. She was married to John H. Lane. To the best of my knowledge they lived in Greene County, Tenn. She had 2 daughters, Dorcas Amanda, and Sarah Elizabeth. Dorcas was my great-grandmother and Sarah became a Union Spy during the Civil War. I would appreciate any information about Elvira.
# 1241094 - In reviewing the listing of Selfs in the Self Family Newsletter for Oklahoma, 1910, I did not locate Lewis Ambrose Self. Lewis Ambrose Self was the son of my great grandfather William H. Self and a brother of my grandmother Nancy (Self) Tuttle. Lewis was born in 1850 Ohio. When William H. Self died in 1912, Lewis Ambrose was listed as a son living in Oklahoma. When John Frank, a brother died in 1929, Lewis was not listed as living. I was wondering if someone might have found him in a later census, such as 1920?

#131221 I am looking for information on my husband's gg-grandmother, Carolyn/Caroline (SELF) Fisher. She was born between. 1860-1862 (headstone says 1860) in (supposedly) Bono, Craighead County, Arkansas and died 1897 Bono, Craighead County, AR. She married James Michael Fisher on 12 February 1885 in Craighead County, AR. He was born 1850 in Bedford County, TN and died 1896. They are both buried in Trinity Cemetery, Bono, Craighead County, AR. (I have photos of their headstone) Caroline & James Michael apparently died within a few months of one another -- I'm guessing that he died in the latter months of 1896 and she died in the early part of 1897. I have heard they both died from pneumonia. When they died, their 5 children were all "farmed" out to different families. I believe Caroline (SELF) Fisher was kin to Noble Johnson SELF, but I'm not sure how -- probably a niece. ??? One of the Fisher children, John Simpson "Simp" FISHER (my husband's great-grandfather) first went to live with Peter & Elizabeth Adaline (SULLINS) Murray. Their daughter, Mary Emma Murray married Camp Lafayette SELF -- a son of Noble Johnson SELF. John Simpson FISHER eventually ended up living with Camp & Emma SELF. ANY information on the parents and/or siblings of Carolyn/Caroline (SELF) FISHER would be greatly appreciated. I have hit a brick wall!

# 131234 I am looking for the parents of Mary Self, died July 14, 1855 who married Joel Plummer December 5, 1799. She is buried in Curry's Chapel Cemetery, Hancock, Co., IN. This is all the info I have on Mary Self. She was born in probably Harrison Co, VA. She was married there in 1799. She and Joel sold farm in VA in Sept, 1836. Came to Indiana with another couple - Berriman Bennett and family, in Dec. 1836. The farm was located in Harrison Twp. Hancock Co., IN She probably stayed here until death July 14, 1855. Curry's Chapel Cemetery is located near my home in IN. I'm not able to find if her parents or siblings came to this area after she did. Joel's parents were Robert and Margaret Holston. They owned many acres in VA. Still have the original land grant papers. They both died in Harrison Co., VA., but don't know where buried. Also haven't found their parents.
# 131241 I am seeking the children of Daniel Self (my GGGrandfather) & Ann Robinson-his first wife. My records show he was born approx 1785 in Virginia and according to his obituary he was the son of Presley Self of Culpepper County, Virginia (SFN Vol 1 p 17), but do not have any documentary evidence of this. Daniel Self married Ann Robinson in Roane County, Tn. on 3 Jan. 1807 and had moved to Kentucky 1810-1812 because he was in the Kentucky Militia in the War of 1812, and not in the 1810 Census. Daniel Self and his first wife by one account had 11 children. (This is one problem) Daniel then marries his second wife Mary Childress in 1831, Adair County, KY.(SFN Vol 1 p 7), and they had 5 children. I ran across some information that Mary Childress had a sister Caroline who married a William Self in 1841 but have not been able to make any other connection. One account I have said Daniel died in 1841 as he prepared to go to on his way to Missouri to join ALL of his children from his first marriage. His second wife Mary Childress stayed in Kentucky, because my GGrandfather John W. Self was of this second marriage and he grew up and became a Baptist minister in Simpson County, Ky and my Grandfather was born in Bowling Green Ky. along with all his brothers and sisters and most of them are buried in Bowling Green, Ky. My query - Who and where in Missouri are all these eleven children of Daniel Self and wife Ann Robinson? There is a lot of missing family in Missouri. Not to be placing the cart in front of the horse, but earlier in Roane County, TN., on 3 March 1807, exactly two months after the marriage of Daniel Self and Ann Robinson, there is a marriage of a Henry Self to Betsey Allen. (SFN Vol 1 p 13) Is there a connection back here? Is this the Henry of the Henry, Owensby, and John Self who will settle briefly in adjacent (to Adair) Barren County, KY? Or is this the Henry who went to Alabama?
# 131242 My GGrandfather John W. Self b.1834 near Keysburg ,Ky was married twice..The first time in 1859 to Emily W Morrow and they had 3 children one of which was John W. I know Georgia had one daughter Jessie Mae Henson born November 16, 1929 in Purdey, Missouri, and married Guy Marshall Ellington, Jr. I have no other information, but any would be greatly appreciated.

# 132475 I am searching for info on a lady named Lotty Self. In 1907, my ggrandfather Reuben Bryant, who lived in Hickman Co, TN at the time, applied for proceeds that would be distributed to Cherokee Indians and descendants (Guion Roll). In his application he indicated that his claim was based on the fact that his mother, Mary Stokes, was 3/4 Cherokee Indian; and that Lotty Self was his grandmother. I do not know where or when Lotty was born, but Reuben was born in 1841 in Perry Co, TN and his mother Mary in 1822 in Marshall Co, TN. Have not been able to find anything on this Lotty Self. Would appreciate help from anyone.

Polk Gill and to them was born my greatgrandfather Thomas Jefferson Gill. Mary Jane Self was born Oct.8, 1853 in Vernon Parish La. and died on June 24, 1939 in Forest Hill, Rapides Parish, La. # 132483 I am searching for any information on the family of Elizabeth Self, from GA. She married Presley Bradley in Morgan Co., GA on July 25, 1830. Presley & Elizabeth moved to Alabama at some point in time, and Elizabeth died there, leaving 5 children (that I know of). The only other information I have on her family, is that she most likely had a sister named Harriet Self, who married a Nipper Adams in Morgan Co., GA. on November 20, 1830. I know practically nothing about this woman. She is my gggrandmother.
# 132484 Three McDonald brothers married three Self sisters; John McDonald md Mary Self on June 6, 1826; William M. McDonald md Elizabeth Self; James McDonald md Susanna Self August 4, 1831. # 132492 My grandmother Mary Ellen (Shoemate-Shomate) Hanselman's mother was Rosetta Self. I believe Rosetta's father may have been Thomas. Great grandmother Rosetta married my great grandfather John Shomate. John and Rosetta had two children, John and Mary Ellen. Rosetta then was married to a David Bragg. I believe they had two or three daughters. The Self's I am researching were from Saline County, in southern Illinois.
# 132493 I happened across your information on the Self families by chance while looking for information on the Reynolds of Lincoln County, NC. I am the granddaughter of Ada Lorena Self Reynolds. She was the daughter of Rufus Lee Self, the son of Lemuel Saunders Self and Rebecca Rucker of Cleveland County, NC. I was excited to see the pictures of all these Self's. I have one question,, The info you have on Lemuel Saunders, just who is he suppose to be to the Self's. I know my great-great grandfathers middle name is Saunders,,, is this his mother's father. I have some great pictures of my Self's. While I wait for your email I need to go into my research and see if I have information on Lemuel Saunders. You know there was also a Lemuel Saunders Self Jr. who died at Point Lookout, Md. while in Union prison.
# 132501 I need to inquire about the Lottie Self which was mentioned in our ancestor's Eastern Cherokee application. This is what I think we can conclude from what we already know about Lottie Self: Most likely, she was b. in SC or NC, and migrated into TN through Indiana. It is possible she is the wife of David Stokes who was in the 1830 and 1850 census of Bedford County and Perry County, TN (respectively). Sarah is listed as his wife, b. ca. 1801, but her name may have been Sarah Charlotte Self or Charlotte Sarah Self (Stokes). The similarity in which other applications were written by this Notary is what has led us to believe she is the wife of David Stokes because the wife was always included with the name of her husband (though we only know her name to be Sarah). I would like to hear from anyone who might have a Lottie (possibly Charlotte) Self or Sarah Self who was born in either TN, NC, SC, IN, IL or KY.
# 132502 My mom's family are Selfs and are located in Brewton, Al. My grandaddy was Herman Govan Self. He was born on Cherry Mountain, N.C., later he moved to Alabama to work the timber business. He was married to Winnie (Dunnavant) Self and they had 5 children, Odell Self, Lawrence Self, James, Willis Earl Self and Nancy Louise (Self) Nelson. Need help researching this family.
# 132503 I am looking for a William Self born about 1768 in Montgomery Co. MD, He married a woman named Dorcus, then moved to Northumberland Co. VA. There they divorced and she moved to Hocking Ohio. He may have moved to Hardy Co. VA/ WV, and died here. He may also have had a son named Stephen Self in Hardy Co.
# 132504 I have a brick wall on my Thomas M. Self. Who were his parents? His brothers and sisters? Thomas was born about 1812 in South Carolina, and the census says his father was also born in South Carolina. Thomas Self married Mary Bridges 25 April 1833, Macon, Bibb County, GA. as recorded in Book A page 154. By 1850 he is in Cass County, TX.; 1860 in Marion County TX.; and 1870 in Hopkins County, Texas. I have also failed to find the parents, brothers, and sisters, of Mary Bridges. My greatgrandmother Mary Jane "Mollie" Self Hopkins Karr testified before the Dawes Commission stating her grandmother, Nancy Travick ( also Lavick in one place), a full blood Choctaw Indian lived in old Choctaw nation, Pontotoc County, Georgia, later Mississippi. Either John Bridges stole Nancy or Thomas stole Mary, and they went to Bibb County, GA. I have the complete testimony of Mollie and her children. I really need some help in documenting this family. Will gladly exchange data, and will pay for copies for information on Thomas M. Self and Mary Bridges.
# 132511 Is anyone working on the Self line that starts in Virginia, eventually continuing with James Blincoe Self and through his wife, Deborah Garner, a son, Abraham Self born in North Carolina? If I'm not mistaken, this Abraham Self moved to Dickson County, Tennessee at the same time as another relative, Abraham Self (born about 1761) and his son Samuel B. came to Dickson Co. James Blincoe's Abraham married Martha Freeman and had a daughter named Mary Elizabeth Self who married James Huel Parrish of the same county. The confusion comes with the two Abrahams that were traveling together. Someone advised me that Samuel B. Self had a son named Abraham that married Martha Freeman, but my records don't show that. Can anyone shed light on this subject?
# 132512 My Self connection is Alice Caldonia Self, born April 1867 in GA., daughter to William H. Self, born 1832 in Habersham County, GA. and Sarah ---, born 1841 GA. William H. Self's parents are John N. Self, b 1813 Bledsoe Co., TN. & Mary --- b 1815 GA. and John N. Self's parents being Jesse Self and Mary Narramore. ( see volume 10 page 62 for more on Jesse Self and Mary Narramore) Alice Caldonia Self married Caleb Platt Mott, born 27 Nov. 1867, on 19 April, 1885, in Scott County, AR. A daughter of this union, Josephine Mott, born 22 July 1891, my grandmother, married Robert Hall Sykes, 2 July 1909, Johnson County, AR. I would like to correspond with anyone connected to any of these people and am seeking pictures of any of the above.

No Children
Ida Self was never married and had no children, bed ridden all her life. (Rheumatoid arthritis.)
Daniel Squiar Self never married. Was shot dead by future brother in law the day before his wedding at their home. They were crossing Big Creek on Stony Point Road in Forsyth County and his fiances brother slipped off a rock and fell into the creek, his shotgun discharged into Daniel's back at point blank range. Was not murder. Fiances brother was about 12 or 13 years old. Accidental. Thanks for any help or insight that you might be able to offer.
#113841 William Moore Self, b. May 22, 1833, in Jefferson County, Alabama m. March 6, 1857, in St. Clair County, Alabama d. August 7.1885 in St. Clair County Alabama, to Casanda Harriet Crump b. June 27.1833 d. February 14, 1905. Both are buried in the Evergreen Methodist Cemetery, St. Clair County, Alabama. Only William Moore has a head marker and it is without a date. Self 1860 who married John Towery, Pleasant Francis Self 1861 my Grandfather, William D. Self 1863, Ebenezer George Self July 22.1866 md. Florence Jones and Annie J. #113842 Seek any proof of parents of Sarah Self Daniel, born about 1780 NC, who married William Daniel (1780-1845) about 1799-1800. They were in Pendleton District SC from about 1800-1803, moved to Buncombe Co. NC (later Haywood Co. NC) until about 1820. They then moved across TN to Jefferson Co. AL. for several years, then to north Georgia by 1825. Their children were: Elizabeth born 1800 (md Benjamin Cain of Habersham & Lumpkin Co. NC); Asa born about 1801-1802 (md Katherine Long 1823 Jefferson Co. AL. and returned to North Georgia and lived Dade County GA.); Josiah (md Dicey Woods Oct. 30, 1825 Habersham Co. William Daniel died about 1845 Union County, GA., and Sarah Self Daniel died after 1860 Union County, GA., where living with son Josiah. Sarah and William moved to the same locations of Presley Self (SC, NC, TN, AL) and Jesse and John Self of Habersham Co. GA. by 1830. Is Sarah related to Job Self of Union and Lumpkin Co. GA?
#113811 Am looking for information on Levi Hall, father of John Self. Grandfather of Mattie Self who was my husband's grandmother. Was contractor on the Abbeville, SC courthouse. Had a publication written about him called the Life and Times of Levi Hall. Anyone out there have any additional information that might help me? Just received this information from another family member.
#113812 I am just beginning to research my mother's family. Her grandmother was Theodoseia Evelyn Self who came to La. from Ga. (??) with her father (first name unknown?), twin brother Lem and Lij, and a sister (possibly Molly). They came probably at the end or shortly after the Civil War. Do not have her birthdate. ..Married 12-1882 to John Miller Young, had 7 children; died 2-1896 in Colfax, La.
#113813 I have been searching for a Smithey Self, born in Alabama, that married Eli Almon Ariola, recently I came across an item that may have given her name as Lucetta Smithey Self or Smithey Lucetta Self, I believe she had a sister Martha that was the wife of John Post, these marriages took place in Johnson Co., Texas about 1865 to 1874. Smithey Self Ariola Jones died 1934 and is buried at Arlington Cemetery Tarrant Co., Texas.
#113814 My grandmothers name was Rosa Lee Self, her Dad's name was Robert Gates Self, born May 1864 he married a Eleanor Powell Fair or Eleanor Fair Powell not sure, my grandmother was born April 15, 1888 in Macon, they were living in Cordele, GA. but had gone to Macon on a job. When her mother died she was a baby and was placed in a catholic home until her father remarried a Hattie May McClellan, they lived in FL and took my grandmother out of the home. I can not say for sure if she was in GA or FL in the home. My grandmother has three living children ranging from 89 - 93 all in FL. Grandma married a John Reason Dansby.
#113815 I am inquiring about my great-grandmother Sally Self Anton (b. Feb.1856 in VA) whose father was George Self (b. Feb. 1815 in VA).

Born on 1 Nov 1925 in Brushy Pond, (Breman) Alabama. Eloise Self married Watson CAUDILL; 2 Roy Ocsar SELF. Born on 25 Dec 1880.

(See cover of VOL. 12 Issue 1) Does anyone have who her parents were? Did she have any brothers or sisters? I would like to know about her. I have her birthdate, who she married, and her death date.
Presley & Elizabeth moved to Alabama at some point in time, and Elizabeth died there, leaving 5 children (that I know of).
